2-ODI Ban For Hardik Pandya And KL Rahul? CoA Chief Vinod Rai Not Convinced With Former’s Apology
Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul may pay the price for their objectionable comments on Koffee With Karan 6. CoA Chief, Vinod Rai, has recommended a 2-ODI ban for both cricketers
Trouble for Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul seems to have
escalated. After BCCI issued show cause notices to both players post their
objectionable statements on Koffee With Karan 6, now, CoA (Committee of
Administrators) Chief has recommended a 2-ODI ban for both players. "I am
not convinced with Hardik's explanation and I have recommended a two-match ban
for both players. However the final decision will be taken once Diana gives her
go ahead," Rai told PTI.
According to reports, fellow CoA member Diana Edulji has referred the matter to the BCCI's legal cell. Rai added, “Diana has sought legal opinion whether the duo can be banned. So, obviously a decision will be taken once she gives her nod. As far as I am concerned, the comments were crass, in bad taste and unacceptable.” After BCCI issues show cause notices, Hardik and KL Rahul were given 24 hours to give an explanation.
The cricketers appeared on the latest episode of Koffee With
Karan 6 and their (particularly Hardik’s) comments on women received severe
backlash from the nation. Hardik then went on to render an apology and said,
“After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to
apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got
a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to
disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect.” India will start a
three-match ODI series against Australia from Saturday.
